This is the challenge that I will be working on first. This is also the challenge that gave me the idea to make this board! The point of this challenge is to see how many Pokemon you can catch before taking on certain gym leaders or if you're playing a Gen 7 game, kahunas. I'm going to try this challenge first on Yellow version, and then work my way to other generations. I will be posting my updates here, including screenshots at some point. Some basic rules are:
1. You cannot use other versions to complete your dex, so there will be Pokemon you'll be missing out on.
2. No glitches or cheating devices can be used, that one is pretty self explanatory.
Those are really the only major rules you need to keep in mind if you want to do this challenge. I need to set my game up, I haven't done so yet. I own the game in real life, but I don't have the means to take clear screenshots of the game, and can only use my phone to take pictures of my GBA, which doesn't look good so I'll admit I'm using a Emulator. (I won't tell you which one or where I got the game from.) I will return when I have a update!

Alright time to post a update. I took on my rival before catching any Pokemon, to get 5 free Poke Balls from Professor Oak, it does take a bit more time to do so but free items are a plus. The only fully evolved Pokemon I have at this point is Butterfree, but it's the quickest to get in the game. I have a Nidorino, and I'm working on my female Nidoran right now. She's at level 13, so only three more levels until she evolves! Then of course I'll have to wait to evolve the Nido's until I get moon stones. I caught a Pidgey, but also caught a Pidgeotto in the forest so I released my Pidgey. After female Nidoran evolves, the next Pokemon I'll work on will be Ratatta, following Spearow. I'm at exactly 3 hours in, and my Pokedex is 12. I've caught all the Pokemon I can in the area of course.

Time to chime in with update number 3! I decided to work on Spearow before working on Ratatta, since it was originally at level 2 when I caught it. I have Nidorina now, and a Fearow! My Ratatta is only at level 10 now, but I've decided to take a break now. My in game time is now 5:24, some of that time I was deciding on what music to listen to while working on this challenge, and my internet was acting up during this process too, so it really only took me about 2 hours and 10 minutes at the most I believe if I don't factor in that. The one Pokemon that's really going to be a pain in the butt to train is Pidgeotto, mine is only at level 12 right now. :V

I finally have a update on this challenge, it's not the biggest one yet but I feel like I should still post it. I finally evolved my Ratatta into a Raticate, and I'm now working on Mankey next. It's at level 15, so I still have 13 more levels until it evolves. Then the last Pokemon I need to work on is my Pidgeotto, which will take the longest out of all of them so far. My in game time is roughly around 7:10.

Interesting idea, I might try it out myself, though it does sound a bit grindey.
